Connswater Community Greenway

East Belfast, Northern Ireland

If you’ve ever been to East Belfast the chances are you have heard of the Connswater Community Greenway.

The Story

Known as a ‘living landmark’, £40 million has been invested into the Greenway to create beautiful parkland and a greener environment for its 40,000 residents. It also hoped the investment will create a vibrant tourist attraction and lead to thousands of new visitors every year.

The star attractions include 16km of foot and cycle paths, heritage trails and a 9km linear park which follows the course of the Connswater, Knock and Loop Rivers. Much of the Greenway is also made up of pathways along the rivers which require barriers and hand railing for safety reasons,

TOT Technical, an architectural company based in County Antrim, were tasked with the design and installation of handrails for the Orangefield Park area of the Connswater Community Greenway. A project that required 2000 metres of stainless and galvanised mild steel. This lead to TOT contacting us for the supply of steel wire rope in order to complete this challenging assignment.

The Result

This large order required the swage forks and turnbuckles to be swaged onto wire rope to create a smooth appearance which was requested by the TOT Technical Team. The work was carried out by our Production Team on designated equipment then fully tested before shipment to Northern Ireland.

Our steel wire rope components for the Connswater Project were delivered on time and on budget. With the kits providing a long-term tensioned solution, residents and visitors alike now have a safe, aesthetically pleasing landmark to enjoy for years to come.
