The Gobbins Path
Islandmagee, Northern Ireland
Known as the ‘most dramatic walk in Europe’, the Gobbins in Northern Ireland is a coastal path first opened in 1902. It immediately captivated visitors thanks to the beautiful location and rich wildlife. The Story
over time the path became hazardous due to coastal erosion leading to many parts becoming closed to the public. Despite being declared dangerous, the unique setting of The Gobbins still attracted walkers and climbers from all over the world.
In 2012, £7.5m in funds were raised from various sources to re-build and restore The Gobbins Coastal Path to its former glory. The huge project included the construction and installation of 15 new bridges, six gallery structures plus an iconic new Tubular Bridge.
